Cartomancy and Chiromancy is an odd game of repetition and dissonance. It leads though a revelatory maze of piano, strings, horns and fragments of obscure words. In keeping with the forms of fortune telling that give this release it's title, the piece seeks to illustrate the patterns that lie underneath the narrative which unfold to determine the fate of the day.

The listener hears rain falling outside on the sea, the wind whistle in an attic, the inside of a clock tower, a dog on a chain howling, a boat rocking over crests, a neighbor rehearsing opera scales. All of these sounds are heard at the same instance a guitar makes thunder and a voice tells the story: Evil is around the corner.
